I am obsessed with African and African-American interior design. I was heavily influence by my grandmother who adorned her home in African décor, spending days at her house planted the seed of a strong identity, self love and an appreciation for culture. I started collecting my own Afrocentric pieces and art work when I was in High School, and when I went to college I almost blew a whole refund check on artwork. Needless to say when I got my own apartment I carefully curated the rooms of my home. Collecting pieces over the years made it easy when the time came when I got my own place and usually I enjoy the thrill of discovery (finding something African in an unusual place). When I started following my career which took me around the country, it became harder and harder to find nice pieces with an African flare. I still remember sitting in my empty apartment wishing I would go to ONE place that had everything I was looking for and maybe give me a little inspiration. So in the spirit of necessity I created The AfroChic Boutique to help others like myself who LOVE African and African-American home décor and interior design easily find and purchase items to adorn their homes.
After seeing the glitch in the market for well made, chic, urban African inspired home décor products, I started creating handmade products as well. You can check out my handiwork the handmade section of TheAfroChicBoutique orTheAfroChicboutique.Etsy.com
